Fonctions Spécifiques/Specific functions

• Personne qui accomplit des tâches psychosociales et participe à des activités de promotion et de prévention; - Veille à ce que les clients gardent des liens avec leur culture lorsqu'ils sont loin de chez eux (raconter des histoires traditionnelles, achat et préparation d’aliments traditionnels, jeux traditionnels, couture et perlage, chant de gorge et sculpture de pierres de savon par exemple); - Invite des conférenciers et des aînés pour offrir des conseils; - Accompagne les clients à leurs rendez-vous médicaux ou judiciaires et offre des services de traduction si nécessaire; - Travaille en collaboration avec Makivvik et le SQIA, Montréal Autochtone et autres organisations inuit et autochtones; - Toutes autres tâches connexes. ****************** - Person who performs psychosocial tasks and participates in promotion and prevention activities; - Ensure clients keep ties with their culture while away from home (Traditional storytelling, acquisition and preparation of country food, traditional games, traditional sewing and beading, throat singing, soap stone carving for example); - Invites guest speakers and Elders to offer guidance; - Accompany the clients at medical or court appointments an offer translation when needed; - Works in collaboration with Makivvik and the SQIA, Native Montreal and any other Inuit and native association; - Any other related tasks.
  
  

Exigences spécifiques/Specific Requirements

• DEC en technique d’assistance sociale ou travail social - En l’absence d’un DEC, une connaissance et expérience approfondie de la culture inuit sera considérée. - La maîtrise de l’Inuktitut et de l’anglais est essentielle (parlé et écrit), du français un atoutDémontre une attitude positive, un grand sens des responsabilités et de l’organisation - Est mature et fiable - Connaît les traditions, croyances et coutumes Inuits ***** - DEC (College Diploma) social assistance technique or social work - In the absence of a DEC, extensive knowledge and experience of Inuit culture will be considered. - Be fluent in Inuktitut and English (spoken and written) French is an asset - Demonstrate a positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and organization - Is mature and reliable - Knows the traditions, beliefs and Inuit customs
