Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Substation Manager for our client, one of the largest electrical contractors in the Lower Mainland. With dozens of projects spread out across the Vancouver area, our client is looking to add more experience to their growing team.

Responsibilities

1. Project execution for substation construction and security barrier fence construction projects to include monitoring project progress and management of customer relations.
2. Maintain schedules for construction crews to ensure all projects are adequately staffed.
3. Oversee construction progress to determine the status of completion.
4. Work closely with management team to provide updates on scheduling and overall project progress.
5. Evaluate job sites to ensure inspection standards are achieved.
6. Work closely with the senior management team to help facilitate development of opportunities and secure new contracts.
7. Work with Estimators to establish work methods and review all estimates with management.
8. Work with Fleet Department to maximize the fleet resources of the company.
9. Train field personnel in technical skills and safety methods.
10. Follow and enforce all safety protocols established by the Company and safety standards.
11. Support project locations throughout assigned areas.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar discipline preferred.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of substation construction policies, procedures, and practices.
3. Minimum 5 years of experience working in electric energy substation and security barrier fence construction is required.
4. Previous SkyTrain or LRT PS&D experience is valued.
5. Experience as a Journeyman Lineman preferred, but not mandatory.
6. 3 - 5 years of experience in Project Management Methodology.
