Job Description

Under general supervision, is responsible for Transportation Modeling and Planning work of considerable difficulty; and performs related work as required.

This role acts as a team lead for a unit responsible for transportation modeling and planning duties, with potential assignments across various areas of transportation modeling or planning. It requires extensive knowledge and experience with 4-Step travel demand models.

Supervised by the Forecasting Supervisor, the position may collaborate with other offices or serve as the primary contact on research projects and program tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team lead in transportation modeling and planning tasks of significant complexity.
• Oversee the TN Statewide Travel Demand Model, including quality checks and data validation.
• Conduct QA/QC for model inputs, network, and Traffic Analysis Zones, and assist in updates.
• Validate processes and outputs, and assist in model calibration and validation reports.
• Review regional travel demand models and prepare review reports for MPO and consultants.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience or master’s degree with 2-3 years in Civil or Industrial Engineering or similar, focusing on travel demand modeling.
• Strong knowledge of Transportation Modeling, Travel Demand Models, and Forecasting.
• Understanding of transportation/land use planning and civil engineering principles.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or in a team.
• Effective communication skills in virtual, oral, and written formats.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of TransCAD experience.
• Knowledge of GIS applications.
• Advanced data analysis and statistical programming skills.

Work Location

• Hybrid model: 2 days remote, 3 days in-office.
