Job summary

Associated Engineering seeks a Transportation Engineer in Edmonton to lead highway and road projects from studies through construction. You will prepare designs, cost estimates, and tender documents while coordinating with clients and internal teams.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, a P.Eng. with APEGA, and at least four years of transportation experience, plus strong communication and organizational skills. Travel within Canada and a valid license are expected.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering with transportation electives or experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Minimum 4 years of transportation experience including Alberta Transportation/Economic Corridors is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Team player with ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage transportation projects focusing on highways and roads.
  • Prepare studies, designs, cost estimates, and specifications for project delivery.
  • Oversee construction management and inspection activities.
  • QA/QC of reports, quantities, and construction drawings.
  • Collaborate with technologists, designers, and engineers to ensure compliance with standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • You will have the opportunity to develop a career path focused on technical leadership, project management, client management, or a combination based on your career aspirations and qualifications.
  • Conducting Site investigations, preparing project designs, and preparation of tender documents for road rehabilitation projects for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors.
  • Experience with Construction supervision and contract administration.
  • QA/QC of Reports, Quantity Estimates, and Construction drawings.
  • Design collaboration and ensuring implementation and compliance of company and client standards and procedures within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Assisting other Technologists, Designers, and Engineers.
Does this sound like you?
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution, with key transportation electives or transportation project experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of transportation experience including experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel within Canada.
