Job summary

Daniels Health & Sharpsmart is hiring for a transportation support and dispatch role in Abbotsford, BC. The candidate will provide route and management support to drivers, liaise between customer, driver, and sales, and coordinate shipments to disposal sites.

Requires 2+ years of transportation support and dispatch experience, plus a valid Class 5 license with airbrakes endorsement. Strong communication, problem solving, and KPI tracking skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Transportation Support, dispatch and Supervisory experience required.
• Must have Class 5 license with airbrakes endorsement; will provide route coverage from time to time.
• Smith Driving Training is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and written/verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and relationship building; deadline-oriented and able to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between customer, driver, and sales to ensure each service is performed optimally.
• Be coverage for routes as needed (overnights and local).
• Maintain interdepartmental communication between plant operations, sales, and field operations teams.
• Plan and schedule shipments to final disposal sites with plant operations.
• Track driver activity using Geotab, Lytx, and HOS logs; monitor for efficiency and safety.
• Create manifests accurately and efficiently; coordinate vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Maintain KPI measures and use spreadsheets for route optimization.
• Analyze route efficiencies to increase density and reduce kms driven per route.
• Support development of safe work practices; ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Manage routing in internal system to maximize space on trucks; handle Salesforce cases and routing updates.

Investing years into R&D to create the safest containment system in the world and taking on the industry status quo to petition for higher standards in sharps protection, we witnessed an 80+ percent reduction in disposal-related needlestick injuries nationwide. And then we kept going...

We are looking to hire a hands‑on and motivational individual for our Daniels’ medical waste treatment facility in Abbotsford, BC who will provide personnel, route, and management support to Daniels drivers to ensure service is executed cost-effectively, efficiently, productively, and to the Daniels standard per our service agreements.

• Liaise between customer, driver, and sales to ensure each service is performed optimally
• Be coverage for routes as needed. Overnights and local
• Maintain interdepartmental communication between our plant operations, sales, and field operations teams
• Work with plant operations to plan and schedule shipments to final disposal sites.
• Using Geotab, Lytx, HOS logs and other documents, track and monitor driver activity. Which will include: excessive stop times, excessive idling, excessive speeding, etc.
• Work to ensure accurate and efficient creation of manifests
• Co-ordinate scheduled vehicle preventative maintenance. Annual inspections of entire fleet and minimize down time of fleet.
• Maintain Key Performance Indicators measures. (EG: Spreadsheets) (Note these items to be defined)
• Analyze route efficiencies to ensure optimum cost savings. Ex: increase route density reduce km’s driven per route
• Be pro‑active in assisting with the development of safe work practices
• Responsible for ensuring driver compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and principles and rectify any non‑conformance or matters of concern regarding Health and Safety and Environmental matters
• Ensure minimal errors are made and high quality of customer service delivered
• Manage routing through our internal system to maximize space on trucks (Daily Routing)
• Work on SalesForce cases and routing updates
• Manage route start times, arrival at first customer, warehouse unload and PM times
• 8AM - 4:30PM or 9AM - 5:30PM (Shift hours vary based on business needs)
