Job summary

Sobeys in Middleton, NS is seeking a Truck Driver to deliver customer orders and pick up merchandise using company vehicles. You will pre-inspect, log, document, load and unload, and ensure safe handling of goods while maintaining excellent customer relations.

The role requires at least 2–3 years of driving experience, a Class 1 license, and a high school diploma. Shifts include evenings and weekends and physical work is part of the job.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of experience driving a tractor-trailer and/or straight truck.
• Proven track record of superior customer service skills.
• Retail support centre experience may be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Pre-inspect truck and complete manifest/logbook.
• Maintain documentation and report damages or repairs.
• Load/unload merchandise and ensure safe, damage-free transport.
• Ensure order accuracy and proper case-count delivery.
• Maintain professional conduct with customers and follow safety SOPs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

• Pre-inspect truck
• Complete manifest/logbook
• Ensure that the proper documentation is maintained
• Maintain equipment and report any damages, necessary repairs, or malfunctions
• Drive transport truck or straight truck in a safe and respectful manner
• Ensure merchandise loaded in vehicle is stowed in a safe and damage-free manner
• Unload trailer at stores
• Ensure case-count delivered corresponds with order, pick up credit, or damaged product
• Always maintain good working relations with customers through cooperative attitude and well-groomed appearance
• Exercise good driving manners and taking precautionary measures during inclement weather conditions
• Follow the instructions outlined in the driver SOP and pay attention to detail
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
• Responsible for all other duties assigned by manager

What you have to offer:
