Nature of the Work

The Transportation Attendant supports the drivers during Adult Day Program transportation. The Attendant helps clients to and from their home and in and out of the vehicle while the driver remains in the vehicle with the other participants to ensure their safety aboard the vehicle. During transportation, the Attendant provides assistance to clients as required in order for the driver to concentrate on the road.

Responsibilities
  • Assist driver during Adult Day Program transportation while picking up and returning clients to their home.
  • Assist Adult Day Program clients from the vehicle to the Adult Day Program space.
  • Call clients prior to pick up (as required).
  • Assist clients from their home to the vehicle.
  • Assist clients to board the vehicle using the stepping bar.
  • Place clients' mobility aids safely in the vehicle.
  • Assist clients with their seat belts as required.
  • Support clients as required during transportation.
  • Help clients remove their jackets, hats, scarves, boots, etc. (if client / staff require help)
  • For the afternoon transportation, assist the Adult Day Program staff with clients until the vehicle and driver arrives to return clients to their home.
What We Would Like to Find in You
  • Secondary School diploma
  • Experience working with seniors and understanding of age-related issues
  • Kitchen experience (meal preparation, serving, doing dishes)
  • Fluency in oral and written communication skills in both English and French is an asset.
  • Must submit and maintain a favourable criminal reference check.
  • Ability to provide support to vulnerable clients.
  • A willingness to maintain high quality, client centered services.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move and / or lift foldable wheelchairs, walkers, or other aids on a frequent basis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.20-$24.84 per hour
