Job description

Transmission Stations Geotechnical Senior Engineer

Raise is currently hiring a Transmission Stations Geotechnical Senior Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading electrical energy supplier in Canada. This is a contract position based in Burnaby, British Columbia, with a pay rate of $125.50/hour, depending on experience, for a duration of 1 year.

The role involves leading geotechnical design, assessment, and review for transmission stations, lines, and telecom assets, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with geotechnical design for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing project documentation, design work packages, and signed engineering deliverables.
  • Providing technical assistance, field reviews, and supporting construction activities.
  • Conducting site investigations, soil testing, and geotechnical analysis for foundation design.
  • Managing design tasks, scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Performing Owner's Engineer review tasks such as seismic ground response analysis, ground improvement design, and terrain mapping.
  • Undertaking Engineer of Record tasks including site investigations, foundation design, and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical design for transmission infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with seismic analysis, foundation design, and geotechnical testing.
  • Technical proficiency in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical software (e.g., SHAKE, WEAP).
  • Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) with proof of permit to practice with EGBC.
