Placements24 is seeking a skilled Transmission and Distribution Engineer to plan, design, and operate the electricity grid in Canada. The role supports hybrid work, combining on-site assessments with remote analysis, and focuses on reliable power delivery and grid modernization.

You will design networks, run power system studies, prepare equipment specifications, supervise installation and commissioning, and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in transmission and distribution.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software (PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, grid codes, and standards.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; hybrid environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer electrical systems for transmission and distribution networks, including substations and overhead lines.
  • Perform power system studies, such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations.
  • Develop technical specifications for equipment procurement and project execution.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of grid infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within the transmission and distribution system.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

About the Role

This position involves ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of power, addressing challenges related to grid expansion, upgrades, and integration of renewable energy sources. You will work a hybrid schedule, allowing for on-site assessments and collaboration with field teams, alongside remote engineering analysis and design. This role is vital for maintaining and enhancing the regional power infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
