Job summary

Native Child and Family Services of Toronto is seeking a Housing Services Support Worker to join our Transitional Housing program in Toronto. You will provide supervision, life skills coaching, and culturally grounded supports for residents, coordinating with case managers and community partners.

The role requires post-secondary education in Human Services, Indigenous knowledge, and a commitment to trauma-informed care; CPR/First Aid and PVSBRC are required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a Human Services field (e.g., BSW, CYC, CYW, SSW) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of direct housing/support services experience.
  • Indigenous lived experience and strong understanding of Indigenous cultures encouraged.
  • Knowledge of resources for Indigenous housing, homelessness, mental health, addictions.
  • Trauma-informed, culturally grounded supports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to Native Child values and safety practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before employment.
  • PVSBRC background check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment in the home.
  • Provide supervision and support emphasizing life skills, parenting, and social development.
  • Identify goals with residents and offer ongoing support to achieve them.
  • Deliver individualized supports including crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Plan and facilitate group activities focused on life skills, culture, and community engagement.
  • Assist with transportation, appointments, and access to services.
  • Integrate trauma-informed, strength-based practices daily.
  • Coordinate referrals to counselling, cultural programs, and groups.
  • Maintain program spaces, equipment, and supplies.
  • Prepare written updates and reports on resident progress.
