Job description

Transitional Case Manager, Justice and Court Services - Elgin

We believe in a support-first approach for those who come into contact with our justice system due to addiction or mental health concerns.

As a Justice Services Case Manager, you will work with clients to address underlying issues, provide strengths-based counselling, and support their steps toward recovery. Responsibilities include attending court, communicating with justice partners, and advocating for clients.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed within the last six months. Applicants needing a PVSC are encouraged to apply for one promptly to avoid delays.

What We Offer:
  • Starting wage: $27.14/hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with potential increases based on regulation and experience.
  • Work hours: 70 hours over two weeks, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with one unpaid lunch hour.
  • Benefits: 9% in lieu of benefits.
  • Pension: Immediate eligibility for HOOPP enrollment.
How You Will Make a Difference:
  • Support clients charged with low-risk offences.
  • Establish and maintain community linkages.
  • Conduct assessments and prepare court reports.
  • Assist clients in attending court and collaborating with community resources.
  • Develop and monitor individualized support plans.
Application Requirements:
  • University degree in social work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance compliant with CMHA policies.
  • Current PVSC.
  • Ability to attend work regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration with a professional regulatory body.
  • Experience in clinical assessment, service planning, relapse prevention, and client advocacy.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches for mental illness and addictions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with case management and justice system support.
  • Certifications in NVCI, CPR/First Aid, ASIST.
  • Bilingual in both official languages is preferred.
