Job summary

Alstom in Toronto, ON seeks a full-time Network Engineer to design and deploy networks and telecom solutions for Canada’s busiest transit systems. You will create and maintain technical documents, perform maintenance, and collaborate with design, engineering, and commissioning teams in a dynamic, safety‑critical rail environment.

The role emphasizes TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, network security, IPsec/VPNs, firewalls, and responsiblity across on-site and remote activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
• 5-15 years of experience in networking/telecommunications.
• P. Eng certification or in progress.
• Knowledge of network hardware including servers and routers.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN.
• Experience with network security, policies, and routing protocols (IP/SR MPLS).
• Hands-on experience with IPsec, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and GIS platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy networks and virtual solutions based on system requirements.
• Create and maintain system documentation, including Interface Control Documents.
• Perform capacity analysis for Communication Networks.
• Use traffic generators and network management tools to meet performance and monitoring objectives.
• Participate in radio and network design, implementation, and test activities.
• Support installation, test, commissioning, and maintenance remotely and in the field.
