Job summary

The Town of Oakville is seeking a permanent, full-time Electronics Technician to join our team. The role involves laying out, building, testing, and repairing electronic components and transit-related equipment, with emphasis on diagnostic skills and schematic reading.

The ideal candidate will have 12th-grade education with college electronics coursework and at least three years of related experience, plus the ability to work in all weather and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify electronic components and systems.

• Interpret schematics and discuss design details with manufacturers to clarify criteria.
• Assemble experimental circuitry or prototypes per engineering instructions and manuals.
• Recommend circuitry or installation changes to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Set up test apparatus to evaluate performance and reliability of units.
• Analyze and interpret test data and document findings.
• Diagnose electrical problems and simulate conditions; repair test equipment as needed.
