Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a skilled Truck & Coach / Automotive Technician to maintain and repair its transit buses and equipment. You will diagnose mechanical and electronic issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for service.

You will work in a collaborative shop environment, document repairs, and support fleet reliability programs while applying your technical expertise to critical municipal transit operations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Truck & Coach Technician (Code 310T).
• Three years’ current experience as a certified mechanic in diesel and gasoline engines including heavy duty equipment.
• Must have a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence and comply with corporate driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair transit buses and related equipment.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections as required by regulations.
• Document repairs and contribute to fleet reliability programs.
