Metrolinx in Oshawa is seeking a Coach Technician to diagnose, repair and inspect buses as part of the Bus Fleet Maintenance Office. The role reports to the Supervisor, Bus Equipment and requires 310T certification and experience with transit buses.

The starting rate is $44.04 per hour, with premiums for Sunday, afternoon, and night shifts. This full-time position offers benefits, a defined pension program and potential OMERS match; applicants must hold Ontario G license and be able to obtain C

Qualifications

• Certified Truck and Coach Technician (310T) with Interprovincial/Provincial status.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a 310T technician in transit or heavy-duty bus repair.
• Knowledge of heavy transit and highway bus maintenance and MTO inspection requirements.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver's license; ability to obtain Class C and Z endorsements.
• Able to obtain Ozone Depletion Card.
• Completion of bus-related courses in air conditioning, electrical, brakes and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose bus systems and determine required replacements.
• Perform repairs and quality checks on bus components.
• Conduct MTO inspections as part of preventative maintenance.

These positions are required to work a 40 hour work week involving various shifts with various off-days.

Start Rate (Non Negotiable): $44.04/hourly

• Sunday Shift Premium: $12.19 per hour (Shifts Commencing on Sunday)
• Afternoons Shift Premium: $1.50 per hour (Shifts ending at 22:01)
• Night Shift Premium: $1.50 per hour (Shift Ending at 08:15)
• Yearly Tool Allowance - $968 per year (Paid in the first quarter of each year).
• Employee paid health, dental & vision benefits - Total annual value of $2,173 per year with additional LTD benefits of $2,590 per year.
• OMERS Pension match of $8,045 at the base pay of $39.23

You will report to the Supervisor, Bus Equipment. Our Bus Fleet Maintenance Office is looking for a Coach Technician to diagnose, repair and inspect buses.

What will I be doing?

• Manage the diagnosis of bus systems.
• Implement replacement, adjustments or repairs to defective parts and components; and conduct quality control checks.
• Perform Ministry of Transportation (MTO) required inspections as functions of the preventative maintenance program/commissioning process.

What skills & qualifications do I need?

• Must possess and maintain certification as a Truck and Coach Technician, 310T designation, Interprovincial/Provincial Status.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Truck and Coach Technician - 310T designation in a transit /highway bus or similar heavy-duty repair environment.
• Detailed knowledge of heavy transit and highway bus maintenance/repair, manufacturers' specifications/schematics, MTO specifications/requirements pertaining to legislated bus inspection requirements, and state of the art transit/mechanical technology.
• Must have a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence. Must meet corporate standard for a good driving record and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class "C" driver's licence and "Z" endorsement.
• Must be able to obtain Ozone Depletion Card.
• Must successfully complete bus related technical courses such as air conditioning, electrical and brakes, as well as other environmental and safety training as required by corporate policy.
