Yellowhead Community Services (YCS) is looking for an individual, couple or family willing to become the Home Share Provider for a social, easygoing and good-natured woman in her sixties. This individual does have diverse abilities and health challenges predominantly related to aging and is wishing to continue to reside in the Barriere or Clearwater area.

As a Home Share Provider, you will provide ongoing support and guidance building life skills, assisting with meal preparation, accessing community resources, and services. You will encourage inclusion within the home such as sharing meals, sharing hobbies, playing cards etc. as well as supporting inclusion in community. This could look like attending local events, beach days at the lake, going out for coffee, volunteering and supporting connection with friends and peers as examples.

You will be responsible for the safety, support, and well-being of this individual. You will ensure the individual is accessing appropriate medical and dental care. Also, you will assist with nurturing positive relationships with friends, family, and support networks. This is a 24/7 position; however, additional supports will be provided and you will have access to and the support of the Home Share Coordinator.

The contracted amount for this position ranges from $880.33 to $5,015.00, with an additional $841.13 provided for room and board.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

Assisting with showering and personal hygiene
Meal preparation, and medication reminders
This individual requires partial or full support in daily activities
Supporting a client with significant mobility challenges and fall risk

Basic Requirements:

Relevant training and/or previous experience working with individuals with diverse abilities.
First Aid and CPR certificate.
Valid BC driver’s license and acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
Criminal record check.

Be willing to obtain/complete the following:

Physician’s letter of good health.
Three letters of reference.
A satisfactory home-study.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certificate.
A signed declaration of confidentiality and a signed release of information

Infant Development Consultant- Lillooet B.C.

Yellowhead Community Services Society is an integrated health/social service agency with offices located in Clearwater, Barriere, Merritt, Lillooet, and Ashcroft. We are currently seeking a full time Infant Development Consultant to work to support families in meeting the needs of infant and toddlers (birth to 3 years) who have, or are at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities.

Key Duties: The consultant works alongside families in the Lillooet area who participate in the Infant Development Program to collaborate on ways to support their child’s growth and development. Children eligible to participate in the IDP program are those who have an identified developmental disability, or are at risk of a developmental delay or disability.

Hour of Work: Shifts will typically take place during the day between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday – Friday dependent on program needs. This is a permanent full-time position for 35 hours per week.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related health or social service discipline, or a degree/diploma in a relevant field, or working towards an ECE certificate is preferred, however individuals with related experience and/or a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Any offers of employment will be subject to a clean criminal record check. A valid Driver’s License, acceptable Driver’s Abstract and access to a safe, reliable vehicle is required. This system provides transportation services from Lillooet to Kamloops. Additional hours may be available depending on Special Transit Trip requests.

Key Duties:

Drive transit vehicles to transport passengers on regular fixed routes, door to door service, and Special Transit Trip requests.
Provide route information to transit passengers and collection of fares.
Assist elderly passengers and persons with disabilities with loading/unloading, and securement of wheelchairs within established safety procedures.
Maintain records and makes reports as required.
Inspect vehicles and performs pre-operation, during operation, and post-operation checks.
Complete daily routine cleaning as per checklist of interior and exterior of transit vehicles.

Hour of Work: Shifts will typically take place between the hours of 7:45am to 7:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but may include other days along with evenings and weekends depending on program needs.

Qualifications: Minimum Grade 12 education is required. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience operating a commercial vehicle and/or providing passenger transportation services. Any offers of employment will be subject to a clean Criminal Record Check. A Class 1, 2 or Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s License and acceptable Commercial Driver’s Abstract.

Key Duties:

Providing community support to adults with developmental disabilities
Advocates and assists individuals to recognize and exercise their rights, promote independence and self-determination
Assist individuals with locating, accessing and participating in community resources/ activities/groups

Hours of Work: Shifts will typically take place between the hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday – Friday, but may include evenings and weekends depending on program needs. This is a casual position involving both on-call and scheduled coverage. Shifts will be a minimum of 2 hours per call-in.
