SECURE is hiring a Transfer Station Attendant for our Hudsons Hope site in British Columbia. You will provide customer service to visitors dropping off garbage and recycling, while ensuring safe and efficient operation of the transfer station.

The role requires 1–2 years of general labor experience, adherence to OH&S standards, and a strong work ethic to handle variable weather and site conditions. Typical schedule is Wed-Sun, 10:30 am–7:30 pm.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of general laborer experience.
• Competent at completing documents on a daily basis.
• Good understanding of OH&S requirements and safe operation of equipment.
• Strong work ethic and ability to persevere in tough conditions.

Responsibilities

• Open and close access gates per hours of operation and secure gates outside hours.
• Conduct routine perimeter fence inspections for unauthorized entry or damage.
• Dispose of any unauthorized material at entrance or other locations.
• Direct traffic flow at transfer stations in line with the traffic plan.
• Supervise placement of waste into containers and the compactor system.
• Remove non-compliant materials from deposited loads.
• Prevent scavenging of waste and materials by site users.
• Maintain buildings and yard, including winter maintenance and litter removal.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

We are currently looking for a Transfer Station Attendant for our Hudsons Hope domestic garbage transfer site. In this position, you would be responsible for providing customer service to people coming into the station to drop off garbage and recycling.

This position is located in Hudson's Hope, BC.

The Team

The successful candidate will work independently to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the transfer station, while providing excellent customer service and maintaining site standards.

Work Environment

This position will have a Wednesday - Sunday schedule, 10:30 am - 7:30 pm.

A Day in The Life

• Exercise good public relations at all times
• Open and close the access gates at the Transfer Station in accordance with the Hours of Operation, ensuring that all gates are properly secured outside of the Hours of Operation
• Conduct routine inspections of the perimeter fences to identify any occurrence of unauthorized entry, damage or other problems
• Dispose of any unauthorized material dumped at the entrance gate or other similar locations, including any material dumped outside of the Hours of Operation
• Direct traffic flow at the Transfer Stations having regard to public safety and in accordance with the traffic management plan
• Supervise the placement of Waste into Containers and the compactor system, as appropriate
• Remove any non-compliant materials from deposited loads
• Prevent the scavenging of waste, recyclable or product stewardship materials by facility users
• Maintain all buildings on site, including the yard, in a clean condition which may include, collection and disposal of fugitive waste material and litter that escapes during the operation of the facilities, winter maintenance such as shoveling snow, sweeping in and around all buildings

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• 1 - 2 years of General Laborer experience
• Competent at completing documents on a daily basis
• Good understanding of the regional Occupational Health and Safety requirements and ability to operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments.
