Job summary

Wellington-Altus Private Wealth Inc. seeks a Training Specialist to design, deliver, and maintain training programs for advisor teams and corporate staff. You will develop materials (e-learning and instructor-led), coordinate events, and support our learning management system.

You will collaborate with managers to tailor programmes, ensure effective knowledge transfer, and identify opportunities to streamline processes across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field or 5 years of work experience.
  • Three years of wealth management experience required.
  • Training experience is an asset; strong interpersonal skills essential.
  • 5 years of financial services industry experience in a high-growth environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Loop, Planner).
  • CSC and/or CPH certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and maintain training materials for advisor teams and staff.
  • Coordinate training events and logistics; deliver both e-learning and instructor-led sessions.
  • Support and maintain the learning management system and related databases.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate training into firm-wide projects.
  • Engage external vendors to roll out new training initiatives.

The opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Training & Development, the Training Specialist will be at the forefront of our efforts to deliver exceptional training programs tailored to the needs of our advisory teams and corporate staff. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in designing, delivering, and maintaining training materials, as well as coordinating training events and logistics. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the development and integration of corporate training systems across the organization.

The candidate will provide training to new and existing Advisor teams and corporate employees, including technical and business process training. The incumbent will deliver and produce training materials (both e-learning and instructor-led), organize training events for new teams, and provide virtual learning support. They will also assist and consult with stakeholders in designing, developing, and integrating corporate training and development systems, as well as databases for learning management systems.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Serving as the cornerstone for day-to-day operational procedures, offering expert guidance and support to team members.
  • Collaborating closely with the Manager of Training and Development to serve as a subject matter expert and mentor team members.
  • Engaging participants through dynamic and interactive training sessions rooted in adult learning principles.
  • Taking charge of coordinating logistics for training events, ensuring seamless execution and maximum participant engagement.
  • Contributing to the upkeep of our learning management system database and support system, overseeing maintenance, development, and reporting efforts.
  • Playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing our internal intranet for advisory teams and corporate employees.
  • Proactively identifying and capitalizing on training opportunities within the organization to streamline processes and enhance the overall advisor experience.
  • Having flexibility to undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Training and Development.
  • Evaluating learning outcomes to provide valuable insights and recommendations for additional training and support initiatives.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of training programs, ensuring the seamless integration of newly acquired skills and techniques into daily operations.
  • Collaborating closely with the Manager, Training and Development to design, develop, and refine new and existing training materials to align with established learning objectives.
  • Partnering with the Senior Manager, Training and Development to co-create comprehensive training resources and materials to facilitate the successful implementation of firm-wide projects.
  • Ensuring documentation practices are adhered to.
  • Collaborating with various departments across the firm to identify training opportunities, support advisory teams in their daily operations, and contribute to the development of new projects.
  • Engaging with external vendors, such as Thomson or NBIN, to facilitate collaboration on initiatives like rolling out new projects.
The ideal candidate will possess:

A bachelor’s degree in finance or related field, or equivalent 5 years of work experience

A minimum of three years of experience in wealth management is required.

Training Experience: While prior training experience is not mandatory, it is considered an asset. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

5 years’ financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment.

  • A strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is essential, including tools like Excel, Word, Outlook, Loop, and Planner.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.

Preferred certifications: CSC and CPH, although candidates without these certifications are still encouraged to apply.

  • Proficiency in instructional design principles and the ability to develop blended learning solutions for effective content creation.

Range $73,000 - $77,250 annually.

This range represents Wellington-Altus' expected range of compensation for this position. Actual compensation will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. Compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.

Wellington-Altus' total compensation package for employees may also include discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards. Wellington-Altus also offers health insurance, accident and life insurance, and other unique benefits per location.
