Job summary

Peel Children's Aid Society is looking for two Summer Youth/Students to join their Trailblazers Youth Centre in Mississauga. This program aims to create a supportive environment for youth to thrive and build connections. Candidates will assist in delivering youth programs and must be passionate about children's welfare. Ideal candidates are either in post-secondary education or within the 18-25 age range with experience relating to youth services.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in post-secondary education or aged 18-25.
  • Experience working with youth considered an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support program needs, working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Foster safety and belonging in youth programs.
  • Assist in delivering services for youth in the community.

At Peel CAS, our mission is to protect children and strengthen families & communities through partnership. We are currently seeking the following professionals to join our team:

Peel Children’s Aid Society is a progressive child welfare agency serving children and their families throughout the diverse communities of the Peel region.

Our Trailblazers Youth Centre was developed to create an innovative and equitable service delivery model – developed and led by youth – for children and youth to access exceptional services and supports to thrive, belong, build lifelong connections, and become leaders.

Our Centre provides opportunities for youth to become active members of a community that fosters safety and belonging while delivering fun and exciting experiences that leverage each participant's potential. We are currently looking for two (2) Summer Youths/Students to join this team.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary school and planning to return to school.
  • Or, aged 18 to 25 and not currently enrolled in school or training programs.
  • Seeking candidates with lived experience as youth involved with a Child Welfare organization, considered an asset.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience working with youth is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support program needs.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
  • Effective working knowledge with diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and independent working skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with virtual platforms is an asset.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs; light lifting may be required.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Updated vulnerable sector police check required.

You will be paid $17.50 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week, working from the Peel CAS office in Mississauga.
