Job summary

Egis Canada is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Traffic Signal Design to join our Edmonton office. The role focuses on planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for urban transportation infrastructure, with a primary concentration on traffic signal installations.

You will coordinate with civil and transportation disciplines, support municipal stakeholder engagement, and ensure compliance with Canadian codes and contract requirements. 5–10+ years of experience and a P.Eng. are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• P.Eng. designation in good standing with APEGA.
• 5–10 years progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years direct traffic signal design experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Experience with transportation standards (OTM Book 12, OPSD, OPSS).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience delivering electrical systems for transportation or municipal projects.
• Strong communication and mentorship abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical design packages for traffic signal and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Develop technical documentation, including specifications, calculations, reports, and design deliverables.
• Coordinate with civil, transportation, and municipal stakeholders for integrated delivery.
• Conduct design reviews to ensure regulatory and project compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Support QA/QC activities related to electrical deliverables.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide engineering recommendations.
• Help develop engineering standards and templates.
• Provide construction support and respond to technical inquiries.
• Assist with regulatory submissions for transportation projects.
