Job summary

University of Calgary seeks Recurring Part-time Traffic Officers to enforce parking and traffic regs across main campuses. Roles include issuing tickets, assisting with traffic control, and guiding visitors while upholding safety policies. Must have Grade 12, a Class 5 license with under 7 demerits, and be comfortable outdoors in all weather.

Shifts are early to late day, up to 7.5 hours, 7 days a week, with outdoor duties and strong customer service as core requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use computerized equipment in an effective manner.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to make consistent and reliable decisions.
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical abilities.
  • Must be able to walk up to 7.5 hours per shift outdoors.
  • Must be able to operate a University vehicle and have a valid Class 5 drivers license with less than 7 demerits (graduated and probationary licenses are not permitted); driver's abstract must be provided at time of hiring.

  • Provide enforcement of regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Act as an ambassador for the University by providing assistance, information and directions to visitors, faculty, staff and students.
  • Understands and complies with the University's Occupational Health and Safety policy.

Ancillary Services within AVP Strategy Enterprise Comm is currently seeking several Recurring Part-time Traffic Officers.

This position reports to the Parking Manager, and is responsible for the enforcement of the Parking and Traffic Regulations on University property including the Main, Foothills and Spy Hill campuses. Based on availability, the position can be scheduled between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm, 7 days per week. Some periods of high work load and activity. Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Good customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult customers is an important part of this position. Must have Class 5 non graduated license.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
