Job summary

Imperial Brady Canada is seeking a seasoned logistics leader to manage end-to-end shipment visibility and carrier relationships across ocean and air freight. You will drive cost control, ensure import compliance, and collaborate with procurement, planning, sales, and inventory teams to align transportation activities with business needs.

You will oversee operations, monitor KPIs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transit times and reduce costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or equivalent experience.
• 5-8+ years of international transportation and logistics experience.
• Experience managing freight forwarders, customs brokers, drayage providers, carrier relationships, and contract negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight, port operations, drayage, Incoterms, customs compliance, and freight auditing.
• Proficiency with TMS and ERP systems (D365, SAP, Oracle).
• Bilingual English and French.
• APICS/ASCM, CSCMP, CITT, P.Log., or related designation considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end shipment visibility for ocean and air freight.
• Coordinate delivery appointments, drayage capacity, and warehouse receiving schedules.
• Oversee port, rail, and drayage operations, including container retrieval and unloading strategies.
• Control transportation costs by minimizing charges, handling freight claims, and resolving billing disputes.
• Build and manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and trucking providers.
• Ensure import compliance and documentation accuracy (CBSA, CUSMA/USMCA).
• Monitor transportation KPIs and analyze performance trends for improvements.
• Partner with procurement, planning, sales, inventory, and warehouse teams to align transportation activities.
• Validate freight invoices and support budget management and accruals.
• Utilize TMS, ERP, and shipment visibility tools to maintain data integrity.
• Develop contingency plans for transportation disruptions and continuity strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for network optimization and cost savings.

Accountable for transportation performance, carrier management, cost control, shipment visibility, and risk mitigation to ensure efficient product flow across the supply chain. Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end shipment visibility for ocean and air freight, proactively identifying and resolving delays, customs issues, and service disruptions.
• Coordinate delivery appointments, drayage capacity, and warehouse receiving schedules to ensure efficient product flow and avoid bottlenecks.
• Oversee port, rail, and drayage operations, including container retrieval, pre-pulls, and unloading strategies to optimize cost and service.
• Control transportation costs by minimizing accessorial charges, managing freight claims, resolving billing disputes, and addressing carrier performance issues.
• Build and manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and trucking providers while ensuring SLA compliance.
• Ensure import compliance and documentation accuracy, including CBSA requirements, CUSMA/USMCA regulations, customs clearance, and bonded freight management.
• Monitor transportation KPIs, analyze performance trends, and provide recommendations to improve service, transit times, and costs.
• Partner with procurement, planning, sales, inventory, and warehouse teams to align transportation activities with business and inventory requirements.
• Validate freight invoices, support budget management and accruals, and maintain transportation records for financial and audit compliance.
• Utilize TMS, ERP, and shipment visibility tools to maintain data integrity and leverage analytics for operational improvements.
• Develop contingency plans and lead response efforts for transportation disruptions, ensuring business continuity through alternative routing and capacity strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on network optimization, service enhancement, reduced transit times, and cost savings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or equivalent experience.
• 5-8+ years of international transportation and logistics experience, including ocean freight, inbound container operations, and Canadian import processes.
• Experience managing freight forwarders, customs brokers, drayage providers, carrier relationships, and contract negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight, port operations, drayage, demurrage/detention management, Incoterms, customs compliance, and freight auditing.
• Proficiency with TMS, ERP systems (D365, SAP, Oracle), transportation analytics, KPI management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, risk management, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to manage exceptions in real time.
• Bilingual (English & French). Employee needs to be able to communicate with the head office, outside vendors, and suppliers etc.
• APICS/ASCM, CSCMP, CITT, P.Log., or related professional designation considered an asset.
