Job summary

City of Kelowna is seeking a Traffic Operations Engineer to support the daily operation of the transportation network, including traffic management, road use permitting, and signal operations.

The ideal candidate will hold a Civil Engineering degree with a P.Eng. designation (or ALP Eng with experience) and experience with Synchro and data analysis. This exempt role offers a salary range of CAD 106,000 to CAD 123,000.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • P.Eng. designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or other Canadian jurisdiction; ALP Eng considered.
  • Experience in municipal or consulting environments is preferred.
  • Experience with Synchro and traffic data analysis is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operation of the transportation network including traffic management, road use permitting, and traffic signal operations.
  • Review and support internal teams with Traffic Management Plans, signage and pavement marking warrants and designs.
  • Provide technical review services for traffic operations and related matters to ensure safe, efficient movement across Kelowna’s network.

As the Traffic Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the transportation network through traffic management, road use permitting, traffic signal operations and technical review services. Reporting to the Traffic Operations Manager, you will review and support internal teams with complex Traffic Management Plans, signage and pavement marking warrants and designs, traffic operations technical reviews and other operational traffic matters to support safe, efficient and reliable movement across Kelowna’s transportation network.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with related consulting or municipal experience. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or another Canadian jurisdiction, is required; however, an A.L.P. Eng. with significant relevant experience may be considered. Experience with Synchro, traffic data analysis and interpretation would be an asset.
