Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Traffic Designer / Engineering Technologist to join our Critical Infrastructure team in the Greater Toronto Area. You will support multimodal corridor studies, signal design, signing and pavement marking, and environmental/feasibility studies, with fieldwork and coordination across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Transportation technology background and 2–3 years of related experience, plus CAD proficiency and knowledge of local design standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree required; CET preferred or actively pursuing certification.
• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering or related fields.
• Knowledge of Ontario municipal/provincial transportation design standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing functional and preliminary traffic designs for roadway/intersection projects.
• Develop concept plans and technical figures using CAD and related software.
• Support multimodal transportation projects including pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists.
• Prepare traffic signal design drawings, layout plans, phasing diagrams, and documentation.
• Assist with signing and pavement marking plan development and design reviews.
• Support traffic management and detour plans and temporary traffic control concepts.
• Conduct field investigations, site reviews, and data collection.
• Compile traffic data, collision data, signal timing, and inventory information.
• Assist with technical memos, feasibility assessments, and design documentation.
• Perform quantity calculations, design checks, and quality reviews of drawings.
• Support environmental assessment and planning projects through design development.
• Coordinate with project managers and disciplines for project delivery.
• Participate in design coordination meetings and proposal development.

Education

Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Transportation Engineering Technology, Municipal Engineering Technology, or a related discipline

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
