Role description

Senior Roadway Designer with advanced roadway and geometric design experience in municipal roadway, MTO highway, and transit projects within the Greater Toronto Area. This role is part of Arcadis’ Mobility Global Business Area, collaborating with clients worldwide to design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities

• Urban and rural roadway alignments (horizontal/vertical), cross sections, and corridor layouts.
• Intersection and roundabout conceptual and detailed design, including sight distance, channelization, auxiliary lanes, and access management.
• Active transportation integration (cycling and pedestrian facilities) within new and retrofit corridors.

Lead and/or assist with analysis and design efforts in geometric roadway design and related transportation engineering from feasibility through IFC, review and supervise the work of junior team members, and ensure technical accuracy of project documents prior to submittal. Collaborate with other engineering groups, technical specialists, and clients to develop full design packages, maintain client communications, and prepare presentations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Civil or Transportation Engineering; registration as P.Eng or C.E.T is an asset.
• 8+ years of experience designing municipal and highway roadway infrastructure with increasing responsibility, preferably with Ontario municipal road authorities.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and required proficiency with Open Roads Design.
• Knowledge of specialized traffic assessment software (Synchro, AutoTurn, etc.).
• Experience applying and interpreting legislation and technical documentation, including the ITE Trip Generation Manual, TAC Geometric Design Guide, the Ontario Traffic Manuals, and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Salary range for this position is $116,000 - $139,000; base salary will vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualification.
