Job summary

Purolator Inc. in Toronto seeks a skilled Licensed Tradesperson to maintain, diagnose, test, and repair material handling equipment (MHE) ensuring high availability and safety. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and document activity in CMMS.

Strong English communication is required for stakeholder interactions. Completion of state- or federally-recognized trades certificates is required, with 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining MHE.

Qualifications

• Completion of specialized courses normally taught in community or recognized specialty colleges.
• For electrician roles, a Licensed Industrial Electrician Certificate (442A) is required.
• For millwright roles, a Licensed Industrial Millwright Certificate (433A) is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular preventative/predictive maintenance on MHE to maintain equipment in a good state of repair and in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical or electrical failures to ensure minimal downtime and reduce downstream impact on service delivery.
• Inspect and monitor Material Handling Equipment and related facilities.
• Prepare and maintain reports (e.g., safety, operational).
• Coordinate and document work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Hours of Work: Sunday to Thursday 7:30 am–3:30 pm. Reports to: Supervisor Maintenance. Location: 576 – NHO. Bargaining Unit: Yes.

Description

The Licensed Tradesperson maintains, diagnoses, tests, and repairs material handling equipment (MHE) (e.g., conveyors, gear boxes, rollers, drive unit, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, etc.) to ensure equipment operates with minimal downtime in compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular preventative/predictive maintenance on MHE to maintain equipment in a good state of repair and in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical or electrical failures to ensure minimal downtime and reduce downstream impact on service delivery.
• Inspect and monitor Material Handling Equipment and related facilities.
• Prepare and maintain reports (e.g., safety, operational).
• Coordinate and document work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Education

• Completion of specialized courses normally taught in community or recognized specialty colleges, about three academic years.
• For electrician roles, a Licensed Industrial Electrician Certificate (442A) is required.
• For millwright roles, a Licensed Industrial Millwright Certificate (433A) is required.

Experience

5 years of experience as an electrician or millwright installing, maintaining, diagnosing, or repairing material handling equipment.
