Overview:

Pembina Pipeline’s Sherwood Park office is recruiting a Journeyman Instrumentation and/or Electrical technician to be part of the Pipelines Division. This Technician will report to the Foreman, Northwest Area.

Pembina's Conventional/Oilsands Business Units include a strategically positioned network of pipelines and related infrastructure, encompassing various hubs and terminals. This network facilitates the transportation of crude oil, condensate, and natural gas liquids across significant areas of Alberta, as well as parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota. Pembina ranks among Canada's largest operators of oil sands and heavy oil pipelines, and its Oil Sands business unit manages one of the most extensive merchant terminal operations in western Canada. These integrated assets enable us to offer long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
  • Act as a pipeline operating district field level subject matter expert for quality analyzer related topics;
  • Perform calibration/verifications, maintenance and troubleshooting activities for area quality analyzers as per PQM standards, contractual and regulatory requirements;
  • Collaborate with corporate quality team to ensure consistent application of analytical standards and best practices;
  • Perform local field lab instrument calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting activities;
  • Participate in the investigation into analyzer and sample conditioning system issues and be a technical resource for resolution of such issues;
  • Support corporate quality team in opportunities that enhance equipment operation and reduce the cost of ownership;
  • Support construction and commissioning of all new or upgraded analyzer installations;
  • Support installation, programming, configuration, and troubleshooting of quality measurement devices;
  • Ensure operating district quality analyzers are operationally accurate, reliable and compliant with regulations, codes, standards and stakeholder expectations;
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Pembina’s Corporate SES standards, regulatory requirements and industry accepted best practices;
  • Participate in an On Call rotation responding to after hour call outs due to equipment and/or operational problems;
  • Lock out of equipment and working in collaboration with Mechanical, E/I and Operations groups;
  • Install new instrumentation and electrical equipment;
  • Supervise construction contractors as required;
  • Complete preventative maintenance schedules of stations and sites to ensure all maintenance is completed to predetermined schedules;
  • Recommend improvements to Facility efficiency and optimization and follow through to completion utilizing assistance from Operations Engineering and being compliant with our MOC (Management of Change) process;
  • Create notifications, enter material requests attach required documentation, ensuring complete Work Orders within SAP;
  • Complete assignments safely, efficiently and in an environmentally conscious manner by observing generally accepted company and industry safety practices;
  • Have a safety conscious attitude for all day-to-day duties, by ensuring Pembina’s Corporate Safety Standards are met; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Instrumentation technology diploma or Provincial Journeyman Instrumentation ticket preferred, however any relevant technical training may also be considered;
  • Minimum five years relevant operations experience required;
  • Working knowledge of hydrocarbon products, specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, business drivers, etc… related to Pembina’s businesses;
  • Strong knowledge of quality analytical/instrumentation equipment, sample conditioning and benchtop quality analyzers;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical aptitude, resourcefulness and self-motivation;
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative team player with a high standard of integrity aligned with Pembina’s corporate values;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate interaction and cooperation with technical disciplines and field operations personnel;
  • Able to work effectively without direct supervision and exhibit accountability;
  • SAP Plant Maintenance Management software knowledge and experience;
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Must have a valid class 5 license;
  • A balanced, flexible adaptive approach to change;
  • Collaborative nature, with strong capabilities contributing to teams with proven success of positive interfacing with Field, Engineering, and Technical Support personnel; and
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication.

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

The successful candidate must live within 50 kilometers of Sherwood Park, AB.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
