City of Delta is seeking a regular full-time Trades 2 Mechanic to support maintenance and repairs for Delta’s fleet and equipment across Ladner and North Delta. The role requires skilled mechanical work, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance with initiative and accuracy.

Our Engineering Operations Department has an opening for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a regular full-time Trades 2 Mechanic. This is skilled mechanical work at the journeyperson level in the troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of Delta’s fleet and equipment. An employee of this class exercises considerable independence of judgment and action in effecting the necessary repairs, overhauls, and preventive maintenance duties.
We are looking for individuals with the following education, skills, and abilities:
A Journeyperson Certificate in Automotive, Truck and Transport, and/or Heavy-Duty, along with a Commercial Vehicle Inspection Licence is required. A valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement for the Province of BC is also required. Candidates who do not currently hold a Class 3 Driver’s Licence may still be considered provided they commit to obtaining the Licence within a reasonable timeframe of appointment.
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $48.76 per hour, plus additional hourly premiums up to $2.00 per hour for specific certifications and a $160 bi-weekly tool allowance. The comprehensive benefits package includes extended health, dental, life insurance, long-term disability and a Defined Benefit Pension Plan with Special Agreement option (Municipal Pension Plan).
Initially, shifts will be scheduled as 5 × 8-hour shifts, transitioning to 4 × 10-hour day shifts. The work location will be Ladner or North Delta, depending on operational requirements.
