Job summary

Cascade Aerospace Inc. is seeking a Paint Shop Technician to perform aircraft painting and related documentation. You will work within a team, ensure compliance with quality control and safety policies, and contribute to on-time delivery of high-quality finishes on various aircraft types.

The role requires strong communication, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work shifts. Training and relocation support may be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma required.
  • Certificate in Automotive or Industry Painting, Auto body, or demonstrated ability.
  • CAMC Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Paint aircraft to industry standards and document workmanship.
  • Plan daily tasks and prepare repair schemes using maintenance manuals.
  • Prime and paint composite or metal substrates individually or in teams.
  • Perform surface prep including cleaning, stripping and sanding.
  • Document irregularities and sign off completed tasks.
  • Ensure paperwork and reporting comply with QCP, SOP, CPS.

Job Description

Paint Shop performs aircraft painting and completes the associated documentation in accordance with industry standards, and Cascade Aerospace policies and procedures.

This position belongs in the bargaining unit and shall abide by all rules and regulations as set out in the collective agreement.
Only Canadian Residents or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.
Major Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure all repairs/modifications and inspection tasks are performed in accordance with the custormer's check package, Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals, and scope of their certification authority.
  • Plan out daily routine and non-routine work tasks by determining the tools and equipment required and prepare repair schemes by locating the specific procedures in the maintenance manuals.
  • Prime and paint composite or metal substrates independently and/or within a team depending on the length and complexity of the repair.
  • Perform preparations tasks by cleaning, stripping and sanding the aircraft before painting, including composite and metal substrates.
  • Perform simple body filling of composite components.
  • Locate and document aircraft irregularities
  • Sign off completed paint tasks and ensure all associated paperwork is in order.
  • Record paint shop historical data of all major stripping and painting tasks.
  • Ensure all paperwork, documentation and reporting associated with a repair is completed accurately and in accordance with Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals.
  • Sign for and document all parts removed and/or replaced on the aircraft.
  • Ensure all maintenance manual page numbers guiding repairs are documented accurately and all paperwork is completed with as much detail as possible.
  • Conduct visual inspections when performing work tasks and document and report any additional repairs identified immediately to the Crew Leader for evalution.
  • Ensure employee bar code is scanned at the beginning and end of every work shift.
  • Ensure incremental sign off procedures are completed to track work order progress.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to junior technicians to ensure work tasks are performed efficiently and accurately, and appropriate skills to progress in the trade are developed.
  • Ensure all work tasks are performed in accordance with Cascade Aerospace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace's Human Resources, attendance, safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Core Skills
  • Good communication skills: fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Specific knowledge of paint and prep standards within Automotive, Industrial and/or Aircraft Industry
  • Ability to ensure that approved standards of Quality Control are maintained
  • Safe work practices and techniques
  • Proven good attendance, reliability and working practices
  • Ability to work within a team and independently if needed
  • Ability to work shift work
Education
  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Certificate in Automotive or Industry Painting, Auto body or demonstrated experience or ability.
  • CAMC Certification is an asset.
Experience
  • Aviation painting on various types of aircraft would be preferred
  • Holder of Automotive or Industrial Trade Painter's ticket with appropriate experience or ability
