Job summary

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting LP in Cranbrook, BC is seeking a Trade Journeyman Mechanic (TJM) to repair and maintain our fleet of road maintenance equipment and vehicles. This unionized position requires a strong mechanical background and the ability to work in extreme weather.

Qualified candidates will hold a BC/Interprovincial qualification as Heavy-Duty Mechanic, with 3rd/4th-year apprentices considered. Night shifts and a Class 3 license with air endorsement are preferred.

Qualifications

• BC Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Ticket as Heavy-Duty Mechanic is required.
• 3rd/4th-year Mechanical Apprentices may be considered.
• Valid class 3 driver's license with air endorsement preferred.
• Experience with highway maintenance equipment is an asset.
• Welding experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain fleet vehicles, highway maintenance equipment, and assets.
• Complete, record, and report documentation for repairs and maintenance.

An exciting career opportunity exists withMainroad East Kootenay Contracting LPfor aTrade Journeyman Mechanic (TJM)based out ofCranbrook, BC. The TJM Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining company vehicles, highway maintenance equipment, and other fleet assets.

This is a unionized position, with all perks and other terms stated in the Collective Agreement.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

• B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and/or Interprovincial Ticket as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic Commercial Transport, or Truck & Transport Mechanic is required.
• 3rd and 4th-year Mechanical Apprentices may also be considered.
• Valid class 3 driver's license with air endorsement is preferred.
• Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) Inspection Certification is an asset.
• Minimum of 3 (three) years' experience as a Mechanic.
• Experience in highway maintenance and/or municipal equipment is an asset.
• Welding experience is an asset.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Capable of performing heavy physical duties.
• Willing to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Ability to work shifts (including night shift).
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
• Safety conscious.
• Dedicated and committed.

Job duties include the following:

• Completing various repairs to fleet of road maintenance equipment including graders, loaders, pickups, tandem highway trucks, backhoes
• Completing, recording and reporting the appropriate documentation for any and all items requiring repair, maintenance or cleaning
