Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain or similar designation considered an asset.

The Trade Compliance and Logistics Specialist will be responsible for coordinating import and export activities, managing documentation, and collaborating with suppliers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure compliance with trade regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will monitor tariff treatments and trade agreements, facilitate duty minimization strategies, and maintain accurate records in logistics systems.

This position is located in Scarborough, Ontario.

Responsibilities
Purchase Order Management & Documentation
  • Support the clearing and delivery of all purchase orders, ensuring accurate documentation and system updates, including bills of materials, invoices, packing lists, and specification sheets.
Supplier & Regulatory Compliance Management
  • Work closely with suppliers, customs brokers, and the supply chain team to facilitate compliance with import/export regulations, trade sanctions, and denied parties screening.
  • Monitor adherence to customs regulations and assist in minimizing duties and taxes.
Tariff & Trade Agreement Evaluation
  • Utilize tariff treatments and trade agreement knowledge, including CUSMA/USMCA, to evaluate country of origin and compliance documentation (HTS, COO, ECCN, etc.).
ERP & Software Coordination
  • Update ERP, logistics, and shipping software data as needed, ensuring proper coordination with logistics providers.
Client Support & Documentation Assistance
  • Assist clients with export documentation and logistics requests.
Supply Chain & Logistics Optimization
  • Support the supply chain team to determine optimized logistics distribution to minimize duties and taxes related to import/export on the organization.
Process Improvement & Performance Metrics
  • Leverage past experiences in lean/six sigma, industrial engineering, or continual improvement methodologies to drive and interpret performance improvements to the KPIs.
Team Collaboration & Project Support
  • Attend logistics meetings, actively participate in team decisions, and assist with various projects and assignments as required.
What We’re Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Supply Chain, CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or similar designation considered an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in import, export, and Global Trade Compliance.
Technical Skills:
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (Infor LN, CEDAS, Kinaxis is preferred).
  • Lean manufacturing – Six Sigma training and experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of security compliance data elements (PIP, CT-PAT, Denied Party Screening, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in assessing complex trade data and regulations to identify and address compliance risks effectively.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrates precision and thoroughness in managing documentation and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • Works well with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and seamless logistics operations.
