Job summary

SYSTRA Canada, part of the global SYSTRA group, seeks a Traction Power Specialist to lead the design and technical delivery of traction power systems for LRT, metro, and rail projects. You will oversee engineering studies, coordinate interfaces with OCS, grounding, and utilities, and support commissioning and safety certification.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, a P.Eng. license in Ontario, and at least 15 years of traction power experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 15 years of traction power design experience for LRT, metro, or rail.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario.
Strong knowledge of traction power substations, distribution, and protection.
Experience in traction power system studies and design across project phases.

Responsibilities

Lead design of traction power system architecture for the SRS scope, including substations, distribution, and protection.
Define traction power design criteria and performance requirements.
Oversee studies: load flow, short-circuit, harmonic, protection coordination, and selectivity.
Coordinate interfaces with OCS, grounding, civil/guideway, and utilities.
Review calculations, drawings, and technical specifications; provide on-site clarifications.
Witness testing, commissioning oversight, energization planning and system cutovers.
Support safety certification with evidence preparation and coordination with assessors.
