Program Overview – Live-In Treatment Program
Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS) is an accredited, non-profit agency serving youth (12 to 24 years of age) and their families in Toronto's east end. Our mission is to empower youth to make positive changes through a continuum of services focusing on mental health, housing, shelter, and youth justice. Recently, TPYS merged with WoodGreen Community Services to enhance support for youth across the GTA.
The Youth Mental Health Court Worker (YMHCW) assesses, refers, and manages cases for youth involved in the youth justice system, establishing links with community resources and playing a key role in the Community Youth Court by advising on youth suitability and treatment planning.
What You Will Do
- Apply a trauma-informed, strengths-based, relationship-centered approach to care, emphasizing youth resilience.
- Conduct criminogenic risk assessments and mental health screenings.
- Provide assessment and brief counseling, ensuring youth and family engagement.
- Foster an inclusive environment respecting diversity and promoting equity.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver services.
- Develop and oversee youth service/treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate client files respecting privacy laws and agency standards.
- Complete administrative duties timely and utilize communication systems effectively.
- Represent the agency professionally in interactions with families, professionals, and community partners.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and mandatory agency sessions.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, and suggest improvements to services and systems.
What You Bring to the Team
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
- At least 3 years of experience working with adolescents, preferably in youth justice.
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for youth with mental health and substance issues.
- Strong assessment, counseling, and case management skills.
- Understanding of mental health diagnoses, treatments, and youth justice legislation (YCJA).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong relationship-building skills.
- Valid First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention training.
- Registration with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

- Experience with diverse, marginalized communities, including LGBTQSS+ youth, ethno-cultural groups, and youth impacted by poverty or involved in youth justice.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and anti-oppression practices.
