We are searching for a Total Rewards Specialist to become part of our fantastic (humble brag) HR team! Your contributions will align with Ornge’s strategic goals and will directly aid our mission to attract, retain, and motivate top talent while ensuring adherence to market trends and regulatory requirements. Key Accountabilities:
- Acts as a subject matter expert in program management and administration of all total rewards – monetary and non-monetary components – including compensation (benchmarking, job comparison analysis, pay structure design, annual merit increase program / financial modelling, incentive programs, job evaluation, policies, federal and provincial pay equity, etc.), benefits, retirement, and recognition for the organization.
- Accountable for providing advice and expertise to both HR partners, Employees and Business Leaders to ensure consistency in the application of policies.
- Supports job design and job description development.
- Leads the annual compensation review and merit increase cycles including, cost-modeling, budget process support, establishment of applicable salary increase guidelines, individual adjustments, validation, communication and reporting.
- Partners with the employee and labour relations and organizational design teams to ensure seamless delivery of all Total Rewards programs/initiatives.
- Acts as the primary liaison with plan providers and vendors and provides support to plan members on all complex matters.
- Leads benefit rate changes in coordination with the payroll team.
- Administers the Tuition Assistance program for union and non-union employees.
- Provides external market analysis and recommendations to support decisions related to total reward programs and policies.
- Manages compensation, benefits, and salary planning surveys.
- Monitors and ensures compliance in the areas of pension and benefits through regular audits and completing all required compliance activities throughout the year.
- Proactively supports the HR Technology team with the ongoing operations and development of human capital management (HCM) systems by defining business requirements and objectives. Participates in design and testing.
- Leverages data insights to forecast and analyze compensation outcomes and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Conducts federal and provincial pay equity assessments and analysis to support annual pay equity maintenance compliance requirements.
- Develops and maintains reports and analyzes data to monitor the effectiveness of programs using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepares TR communications materials and tools to maximize employee appreciation and delivers training/orientation with the support of ELR team to increase understanding.
- Oversees the maintenance of the employee booklet, engaging Benefits Consultant / Advisor partner to review and validate content.
- Maintains TR policies/procedures, creates frameworks, etc.
Qualifications:
- Degree/diploma in Human Resources, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5-6 years of experience in administering compensation and benefit programs in a specialist capacity.
- Extensive experience in job design/analysis, job evaluation, retirement services consultation, developing and implementing TR policies and procedures.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Experience with administering HOODIP plan preferred.
- Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) would be considered an asset.
- Highly developed analytical skills, skilled at collecting, analyzing and presenting data.
- Excellent customer service and communication (written, verbal, and listening) skills.
- Discretion, tact, high levels of diplomacy and confidentiality are essential for success.
- Knowledgeable of provincial and federal employment and compensation/benefits legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of TR practices, trends, and preparation of reports.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to proactively identify and implement effective scalable and repeatable solutions.
- Working knowledge of HR metrics used in decision-making; ability to build business cases to support initiatives and possesses advanced MS Excel skills.
