Job summary

Martinrea International Inc. is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to develop, repair and modify dies, tools, jigs and gauges requiring precise dimensions.

The role includes troubleshooting and preventative maintenance to keep production running smoothly. The candidate should have Grade 12 with a Tool & Die Maker license and at least 3 years of die-making experience in manufacturing, with assets in progressive/transfer dies, MIG/TIG welding, and strong blueprint interpretation.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with a Tool & Die Maker license is required.
• Minimum 3 years of Tool & Die experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in progressive and transfer dies operation is an asset.
• Experience in MIG and TIG welding is an asset.
• Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Able to operate Milling Machine, Grinder, Drill Press and Lathe Machine.
• Good English communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and occasional other hours as required.
• Support Quality Systems, Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems requirements.
• Willingness to adhere to customer/supplier relationship protocols.
• Timely and organized completion of tool room projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain dies, tools and processes as required.
• To build all replacement tools and dies for production use.
• Provide guidance and advice to Junior Tool & Die Makers and Apprentices as required.
• Liaise with internal departments for design input, fabrication and modifications to existing tools and dies.
• Ensure timely completion of repairs, new dies, tooling, fixtures and jigs to avoid production interruptions.
• Ensure preventative maintenance programs are followed on tools and dies based on schedules.
• Follow lock out/tag out procedures as required.
• Maintain good housekeeping in work area and die parts at all times.
• Follow HSE policies and PPE requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the job area.
