Job summary

Lightspeed Studios is seeking a Junior Tools Programmer in Montreal to help develop a AAA, open-world game for multiple platforms. In this role, you will work closely with artists and designers, implement technology to support our game vision, and continuously improve tools and pipelines based on user feedback.

The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with experience in game programming and proficiency in C# and C++. Join our team of industry veterans to create engaging games that players will love.

Qualifications

• Experience in software development or game production for consoles or PC; AAA experience is advantageous.
• Project or internship experience in game programming, preferably with current-generation video games.
• Understanding of game engine and editor concepts.

We are seeking a Junior Tools Programmer to participate in developing a AAA, open-world game that will be released on multiple platforms and reach a global audience.

What you’ll do

• Work closely with artists and designers to find creative solutions that respond to their needs.
• Participate in continuous improvements of our tools and pipeline based on user feedback.
• Establish the foundations for a productive and scalable work environment.
• Implement technology that supports our game vision and empowers content creators.
• Collaborate with artists, designers, and animators to design solutions that respond to their needs.
• Measure pipeline performance for continuous improvement.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues within our pipeline.
• Maintain high-quality coding standards and documentation.
• Focus on productivity, scalability, and efficiency.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in software development or production of games for consoles or PC; AAA game development experience is a huge plus.
• Project or internship/work experience in game programming, with experience related to current-generation video games (PS4/Xbox One) preferred.
• Proficiency in C# and C++.
• Understanding of game engine and editor concepts (e.g., Unreal).
• Ability to write solid, reliable, efficient code; excellent debugging and optimization skills.
• Good analytical skills and broad knowledge of game content creation pipelines; ability to quickly prototype and iterate in collaboration with others.
• Open-minded team player attitude, strong work ethic, self-motivated.
• Passion for playing and making video games.
