Job summary

SSP Canada operates several restaurants within Victoria International Airport, including Spinnakers on the Fly, Fresh Cup, and Tim Hortons. We seek a Food Service Attendant to greet guests, take orders, handle payments, and serve a variety of beverages and food items in a secure airport environment.

RAIC security clearance and English communication are required. Expect duties such as opening/closing checklists, cleaning per health standards, and adherence to recipes.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in a food service environment is preferred.
• Verbal and written communication in English is required.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Basic math skills to operate a cash register and handle payments.
• Food handlers permit as required by law and brand certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment and process change.
• Serve drinks and a variety of food items; follow recipes and portion controls.
• Complete opening, ongoing, and closing checklists as required.
• Perform cleaning tasks to health standards and assist with other duties as assigned.

SSP Canada operates several restaurants throughout Victoria International Airport, including: Spinnakers on the Fly, Fresh Cup, and Tim Hortons.

This position is located in a secure airport environment and a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) is required. All candidates must be legally authorised to work in Canada and must be able to provide the necessary government‑issued documentation required for airport security clearance. Documentation will be reviewed during the onboarding process in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. Here are a few things you can expect as a Food Service Attendant:

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests.
• Follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items.
• Complete opening, on-going, and closing checklists as required.
• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills And Other Requirements

• Preferred six months experience working in food service environment
• High school diploma preferred.
• Verbal and written communication
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Experience in dealing with problems involving customer service.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, etc.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Brand Certification as required.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to operate a keyboard & point of sale procedures to pre-check an order & close out a check.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long period of time.
