Job summary

Covenant House Toronto is recruiting 3 Part-Time Thrive Youth Workers at the Etobicoke site. This is a replacement role with weekend shifts: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, days 8:00am–4:00pm and afternoons 3:00pm–11:00pm, rotating across days and weekends.

Responsibilities include ongoing assessment of youths’ needs, crisis intervention, advocacy for youth, maintaining client files, and providing direct support to Case managers.

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in child and youth work or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting.
  • Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and issues related to street youth.
  • First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset.
  • Ability to work from a trauma informed lens.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

  • Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.
  • Acting as an advocate for youth both within the agency as well with external agencies.

  • Providing direct support to Case managers.

Overview

In this position the candidate will be responsible for direct implementation of Covenant House’s philosophy, mission statement and policies as they pertain to residential care. We are currently recruiting for 3Part-Time Thrive Youth Workers. This is a replacement role within the organization. Shifts are Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Days 8:00am - 4:00pm, and afternoons 3:00pm - 11:00pm, with a rotation of days and afternoons on weekends. Additional support may be available to support program needs
