Job summary

Covenant House Toronto is seeking an Overnight Youth Worker for the Thrive Transitional Program in Etobicoke. The role is full-time and on-site, with overnight shifts from 10:30pm to 8:30am, four nights per week, and potential to pick up extra shifts based on program needs.

The position focuses on crisis intervention, youth assessment, and direct support within residential care, aligning with Covenant House's philosophy and policies and supporting youth toward future goals.

Qualifications

• College or university degree in child and youth work or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting.
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.
• First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset.
• Ability to identify, assess and intervene with youth in crisis as individually needed.
• Ability to work from a trauma informed lens.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.
• Acting as an advocate for youth both within the agency as well with external agencies.

Overview

In this position the candidate will be responsible for direct implementation of Covenant House’s philosophy, mission statement and policies as they pertain to residential care. We are currently recruiting for 1 Full Time, Overnight Permanent Thrive Youth Worker. This is a replacement position. Overnight shifts are 10:30pm- 8:30am, scheduled across Monday through Sunday, 4 nights per week, with the possibility of picking up extra shifts should program needs require.
