Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Therapy Assistant to deliver multidisciplinary TA services to clients in a Continuing Care Type B home. Based at Taylor View Towers in Red Deer, you will work with an interprofessional team including OT, PT, Recreation Therapist, and SLP.

The role may service other facilities within Red Deer and surrounding areas. You will hold a diploma in Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant and may require BCLS-HCP certification, with duties spanning direct/indirect client

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program.
• Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is required.
• Diploma may include Recreational Therapy or equivalent related training

Your Opportunity:

In this full-time temporary position, you will provide multidisciplinary TA services to clients living in a Continuing Care Type B home. You will receive direction from and work closely with the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Recreation Therapist, and Speech Language Pathologist. This position is based at Taylor View Towers in Red Deer, but may provide assistance to other facilities within the city of Red Deer that the Allied Health Supportive Living Team supports. Central Alberta near the midpoint of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County. Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
