Job summary

Riverstone Retirement Communities is seeking an experienced dietary professional to assist in meal preparation for residents, ensuring therapeutic diets are prepared accurately and in a timely manner. You will oversee food service with FSM, adapt menus, and maintain sanitary standards, assist in training new dietary staff, manage ordering and inventory, and monitor equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Two years or more experience in quantity food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Familiar with Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating, HACCP, WHMIS, Health and Safety and Sanitation Code.

Responsibilities

• Assist FSM in meal preparation for residents.
• Oversee and assist with service of food, respecting resident preferences.
• Ensure all dietary functions are performed in a clean, sanitary manner according to regulations.
• Assist in controlling food costs and wastage.
• Fill in for FSM in absence: menu changes, staff replacements, purchasing and receiving food and supplies, and arranging service calls for equipment issues.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and equipment operation; report issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Institute changes to technique or procedures for efficiency.
• Label food clearly and correctly.
• Assist in training new dietary personnel.
• Inspect supplies and communicate reorder quantities to supervisor.
• Attend in-service to better understand residents' dietary needs.
