Job summary

Stonehenge Therapeutic Community in Guelph, Ontario, seeks a Therapeutic Community Facilitator for a full-time permanent role. About the Role

Therapeutic Community Facilitator (“TCF”) staff play an integrated role in supporting the day‑to‑day functioning of the residential program by upholding the Therapeutic Community model, facilitating psycho‑educational and therapeutic groups, and supporting essential residential and logistical operations. This role combines therapeutic community coaching, group facilitation, and practical residential coordination, requiring staff to work relationally with all members of the community. TCF staff provide real‑time feedback to residents, maintain program activity structure, accountability, and overall therapeutic community program flow.

Role Type: Full Time, Permanent

Positions Available: 3

Hours of Work
  • Afternoons (hours TBD)
  • Rotational Schedule, working 7 shifts over 14 days including every other weekend and statutory holidays (where it falls on a regular working day)
  • Additional on‑call responsibilities (on a rotational basis), therefore some evening, weekend and/or overnight work may be required to support the staff team

Qualifications
  • Completion of a College Diploma or University Degree relevant to mental health, addiction, or social services
  • Minimum one year of progressive experience in addictions or mental health; experience in concurrent disorders and trauma‑informed practice an asset
  • Previous experience in residential treatment an asset
  • Previous experience in the correctional field an asset
  • Previous experience with justice‑involved individuals preferred
  • Food Handlers Certification an asset
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation an asset
  • Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health an asset
  • Valid G Driver’s License (G2 or greater), with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience
  • Satisfactory motor vehicle record
  • CSC Clearance conducted by PWGS Canada
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Level C
  • Reliable vehicle/own transportation – not on a bus route
  • Must be able to attend work within an hour of notification when on call
Role Overview
Psycho‑Educational Programming & Therapeutic Facilitation
  • Coordinate, and facilitate psycho‑educational groups, including:
    • Coping Skills, Relapse Prevention, Emotional Management
    • Life Skills, Parenting, Family Systems
    • Creative and Recreational Programming
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, workshops, and community resources to support psycho‑educational content and programs
  • Provide follow‑up support to residents as indicated after groups
  • Maintain and oversee group materials and required supplies
  • Lead and participate in structured group activities and therapeutic interventions
Therapeutic Community Structure & Coaching
  • Uphold and model TC values, expectations, and structure at all times
  • Provide motivational support, coaching, and in‑the‑moment feedback to residents consistent with TC principles
  • Participate and oversee workforce and activity therapy, including assigning resident roles based on treatment goals and strengths, and supervising work crews and daily activities
  • Oversee resident accountability systems and share relevant observations with the clinical team
  • Support the organization and facilitation of structured daily activities and special program events
  • Coach residents in employment‑readiness, life skills, and pro‑social recreation consistent with treatment goals
  • Coordinate and ensure proper food preparation, handling and storage in compliance with public health standards
  • Provide coaching and support to residents in the preparation and handling of food as part of program activities
  • Assist with grounds, facilities, and activity coordination where resident involvement supports therapeutic goals
Residential Support & Logistics
  • Provide mental health support, containment, and crisis intervention for residents as needed; identify, mitigate and respond to crises or behavioural challenges in alignment with TC program standards
  • Transport residents to appointments and off‑site commitments when required
  • Support medication administration and required documentation
  • Assist with planned and unplanned resident discharges
  • Participate in shift communication, staff briefings, supervision, program meetings and staff meetings
  • Support food, supplies, and resident resource coordination in collaboration with the TCF team; completion of associated documentation
  • Assist with inventory oversight and safe handling of program supplies
  • Participate in light housekeeping and shared responsibility for community living spaces
  • Coordinate referrals to internal and external services, as appropriate
  • Provide operational support in absence of the Operations Coordinator (i.e. vendor support, crisis response to physical plant emergencies)
  • Liaise with external partners and vendors, as appropriate and as directed by Operations
Administrative Support and Compliance
  • Complete all required resident documentation (i.e. electronic logs, incident reports, program records/summaries)
  • Participate in mandatory training, health & safety requirements, and agency compliance activities
  • Mandatory on‑call responsibilities, on a rotational basis
  • Participate in coaching and training and mentorship activities with peers (colleagues) in alignment with TC principles (personal responsibility, mutual respect and accountability)
  • Perform additional duties aligned with program needs and scope of role
