Job summary

Theatre Network, Edmonton’s secondary largest producing theatre company, is seeking an Outreach Coordinator to lead the “Where the Blood Mixes” outreach program for a contract period running from mid‑November 2012 to mid‑March 2013.

The role focuses on connecting with Aboriginal communities, schools, and youth organizations, coordinating pre/post‑show events, and facilitating group bookings and sponsorships.

Qualifications

• Strong background in marketing, promotions and community outreach initiatives.
• Familiarity with Alberta’s Aboriginal communities and organizations, as well as organizations that work closely with or have interest in Alberta’s Aboriginal population.
• Experience in administration.
• Solid organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the theatre industry an asset.
• Experience working with high schools and/or youth organizations an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the outreach program for the production, including planning and promotion.
• Connect with targeted groups in Edmonton and surrounding areas, focusing on Aboriginal communities, schools and youth organizations.
• Arrange pre/post-show events and matinee performances with schools and youth organizations.
• Coordinate bookings, sponsorship discussions and group attendance logistics.
• Liaise between outreach organizations and Theatre Network staff, reporting on deliverables.
