Job summary

The Free Will Players Theatre Guild seeks a Managing Director to lead operations, finance, fundraising, and partnerships for its Edmonton theatre company. This role works in close collaboration with the Artistic Director and reports to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities include budgeting, grant writing, fundraising, and market outreach, with compensation in the $40,000–$45,000 range plus benefits. The successful candidate will manage staff and outdoor festival logistics.

Qualifications

• Arts Management degree or equivalent work experience in theatre or related field.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, MS Office, Google Workspace and Excel; ability to learn website software.
• Excellent time management; ability to prioritize and adapt to annual festival cycles.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication and diplomacy.
• Ability to manage outdoor summer festival operations and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning with the Board and Artistic Director for short and long-term goals.
• Oversee payroll, administrative decisions, and day-to-day operations with the Artistic Director.
• Develop and implement fundraising plans, grants, and sponsorships.
• Oversee marketing materials, press releases, website, and subscriber communications.
• Ensure financial reporting, budgeting, audit readiness, and CRA compliance.
