Job summary

Theatre Prospero in Edmonton seeks a full-time General Manager to work with the Artistic Director in managing overall operations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GM coordinates the company's activities across finances, HR, development, marketing and tours.

The role requires leadership, grants/fundraising expertise, and strong communication. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends are expected as productions and tours demand.

Qualifications

• Experience in management of not-for-profit or cultural organizations.
• Knowledge of theatre production and/or professional performing arts touring.
• Proven leadership capability.
• Strong fiscal management track record.
• Self-motivated, initiative, team player, autonomous.
• Experience in grant writing, fundraising and marketing.
• Computer skills including MS Office, website and social media management, databases and accounting.
• Strong interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform book-keeping and payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable.
• Prepare and analyze financial data for reporting.
• Maintain financial records and compliance.
• Prepare and monitor operating budget with Artistic Director.
• Liaise with the accountant for annual notices and taxes.
