Test Lab Manager
Remote | Full time | Mid-level (3+ years)

Overview

The Test Lab Manager provides strategic direction in leading and optimizing high-voltage test lab operations in alignment with production demands, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality. The Test Lab Manager drives multi-shift scheduling, preventive maintenance, and team development for both the unionized and non-union team members.
The Test Lab Manager is also a champion in safety compliance, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Your Tasks:
  • Strategic Lab Operations & Scheduling
  • ·Align test schedules with production forecasts to maximize throughput.
  • ·Implement and manage multi-shift operations to increase capacity.
  • ·Minimize equipment idle time and waiting periods through optimized scheduling.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • ·Enforce rigorous safety protocols for high-voltage testing (impulse, RIV, temperature rise).
  • ·Ensure compliance with CSA, OSHA, IEEE, IEC, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • ·Conduct regular safety audits, drills, and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • ·Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program for all lab equipment.
  • ·Schedule inspections, calibrations, and repairs to reduce downtime.
  • ·Maintain detailed maintenance logs and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Training
  • ·Supervise a multi-shift team of technicians and engineers.
  • ·Deliver comprehensive training on safety, test procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • ·Conduct performance reviews and foster a collaborative, safety-first culture.
  • Equipment & Inventory Management
  • ·Oversee procurement, calibration, and lifecycle management of test equipment.
  • ·Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance lab capabilities.
  • ·Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Test Procedures & Quality Control
  • ·Standardize and document test procedures for all routine and type tests.
  • ·Ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • ·Implement quality control measures and review test data for compliance.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • ·Prepare detailed test reports with analysis and recommendations.
  • ·Maintain accurate records using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • ·Ensure seamless data capture and accessibility across shifts.
  • Stakeholder Communication
  • ·Liaise with internal teams and customers to align testing with project needs.
  • ·Collaborate on test design and communicate progress and results effectively.
  • Budget Management
  • Manage lab budget, forecast expenditures, and
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: 8+ years in high-voltage testing/design; 2+ years in lab management.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in high-voltage systems, testing methods, and standards (IEEE, IEC, ANSI).
  • Software: Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, and circuit simulation tools.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, enforce safety, and manage multi-shift operations.
