Role Overview: Test Engineering Manager

The Test Engineering Manager provides verification and validation support for product development and manufacturing of advanced underwater warfare systems. You will influence product and process design by being an expert in Design for Test and Design for Manufacture.

Nationality Requirements: Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance due to the nature of our programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of 5-10 Test Engineers and Technologists.
  2. Support program and operations teams in planning verification activities within schedules.
  3. Collaborate across departments to achieve excellence in new product introduction.
  4. Review product designs focusing on electronic circuits, assemblies, and firmware for testability.
  5. Develop and review verification plans throughout product lifecycle.
  6. Select and tailor verification techniques considering scope, risks, safety, and criticality.
  7. Create verification procedures for design proving, qualification, acceptance, and field testing.
  8. Manage automated test stations and other verification tools.
  9. Coordinate external testing at labs and field facilities.
  10. Investigate and resolve product and test system issues.
  11. Improve test processes by monitoring trends and quality issues.
  12. Manage calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in test engineering within a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Eligible for Canadian NATO security clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Verification plan development.
  • Electronic test design, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis.
  • Design and simulation using tools like OrCAD.
  • Data analysis with MATLAB or Excel.
  • Test programming with LabVIEW or similar.
  • Experience with underwater acoustics, RF engineering, and Lean practices.

Typically, 8+ years of related experience and 3+ years in a leadership role. Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus. May require maintaining security clearance.
