Join to apply for the Electrical Testing Field Engineer 1 role at M.C. Dean, Inc.

Overview

U.S. Electrical Testing specializes in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning services for mission-critical facilities, secure environments, and various industrial clients. The company also offers emergency response, engineering services, and turn-key installation and repair.

Responsibilities

  1. Program, install, and maintain protective relaying and metering equipment.
  2. Perform electrical tests and repairs, analyze test results, and interpret electrical diagrams.
  3. Use hand tools, meters, and test equipment safely in energized environments.
  4. Review and correct schematic, wiring diagrams, and substation drawings.
  5. Commission new relay and metering installations.
  6. Coordinate testing, troubleshooting, and repairs with team members.
  7. Maintain and test relays and associated equipment such as generators and meters.
  8. Troubleshoot, repair, and replace faulty components.
  9. Participate in emergency callouts.
  10. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Ability to travel domestically and internationally (25%-75%).
  2. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  3. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Good time management and organizational skills.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Power DB and Smartsheet is a plus.
  6. 2-4 years of relevant electrical experience or an associate/bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  7. Valid U.S. work authorization.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  1. NETA / NICET certification or equivalent experience.
  2. Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA standards.
  3. Ability to interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
  4. Experience with test equipment like Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, Fluke.
  5. Understanding of insulation resistance, power factor, and high-voltage testing.
  6. Knowledge of systems up to 500kV, including arc flash hazard analysis.
  7. Strong troubleshooting skills.
  8. Willingness to travel and work in various environments.
  9. Ability to work safely and follow industry standards.
  10. Perform acceptance and maintenance testing, relay testing, circuit breaker testing, transformer testing, and root cause analysis.
  11. Ensure safety protocols and maintain detailed documentation.
  12. Collaborate with teams and mentor junior technicians.
