Job summary

Cognizant seeks a Test Automation Engineer to join our QEA team in Toronto, delivering automated UI, API, and data validation for banking applications within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Overall 6-10 years of hands-on experience in automation testing for banking projects.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on automation experience using Java, Selenium, Junit, TestNG, Maven, BDD Cucumber framework.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in automation (UI + API) automation, test automation framework development and test process implementation.
• Must have good experience with Rest Assured for API automation testing.
• Must be able to write complex SQL queries for MySQL database and ETL verification.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub actions CI CD for automated test execution and integration.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive API testing using Postman and Rest Assured, validating HTTP response payloads, JSON schemas, and backend data flows.

• Integrate comprehensive UI, API, and database test suites into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.

About the role

We are looking for Test Automation Engineer with strong expertise with Java and Playwright automation skills to join our QEA team in a permanent role. You will be responsible for developing and completing automated tests, including integration/API tests and end-to-end testing to ensure robust quality coverage for our banking applications.

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts for web applications using Selenium WebDriver with Java and Cucumber BDD.
• Perform comprehensive API testing using Postman and Rest Assured, validating HTTP response payloads, JSON schemas, and backend data flows.
• Execute SQL queries to perform backend database and ETL validation.
• Review and analyze test execution results, identify defects, and debug and fix issues in the automation framework and test scripts.
• Integrate comprehensive UI, API, and database test suites into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.

Total compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 60,000 - 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
