Job description

At Wagepoint, we're good people. It's easy to feel that way when you're surrounded by folks doing the best work of their careers, building great payroll software for small businesses across Canada.

Our team brings together diverse backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, and ideas to make payroll the easiest part of running a business.

We're remote-first, growing, and looking for passionate people who don't settle for the first solution or the way it's been done before. We care deeply about our customers and each other, and understand that when it comes to payroll, getting it right matters.

Our values guide how we work and what we expect from one another:

  • Cultivate Impact by focusing on what matters most and delivering meaningful outcomes for our customers.
  • Unify as One Team by collaborating openly, communicating clearly, and rallying around shared goals.
  • Stay Curious and Kind by challenging assumptions, learning quickly, and leading with empathy.

If you want to build the future of payroll in a place where your ideas are welcomed and your contributions matter, look no further!

The role at high level:

We're looking for a talented Territory Account Executive who enjoys tackling hard problems and wants to create meaningful impact for small businesses across Canada. You'll be a senior, field-based seller responsible for growing our partner channel across an assigned Canadian territory — owning the full partner sales cycle from sourcing and qualifying through to closing and activating accounting and bookkeeping firms, with a clear mandate to drive net-new partner agreements and accelerate sub-client growth in the first 12 months. You will report directly to our Director, Partner Growth.

This is a true field sales role. You’ll be on the road in-territory at least three days per week — meeting partners face-to-face, attending regional accounting and bookkeeping events, and building the local Wagepoint brand. The remaining two days are for pipeline work, virtual meetings, partner enablement, and CRM hygiene.

Please note we are looking for this role to be based out of Vancouver due to travel requirements.

Compensation: This role offers a base salary of $95,000 with $125,000 in target variable compensation, for an on-target earning of $130,000 - $220,000. Commissions are uncapped and paid monthly based on achievement against target.

What you'll be expected to own:

Meet or exceed territory quota for net-new signed partners and the sub-clients those partners bring onto Wagepoint within their first 12 months.

Self-generate pipeline through outbound prospecting, in-person territory work, referrals, and event-driven sourcing — maintaining a 3x pipeline coverage ratio.

Run a disciplined field-sales motion with at least three days per week on the road in your assigned territory, including in-person partner meetings, regional events, and on-site enablement.

Own the full partner sales cycle end-to-end: discovery, demos, negotiation, contracting, and a clean warm handoff to onboarding.

Activate and grow newly signed partners across their first 12 months, partnering with onboarding and partner enablement to hit 30/60/90 activation milestones.

Be the in-market expert on Wagepoint and Canadian payroll — representing the product, the partner program, and our value confidently in person, on calls, and on stage.

Maintain forecast accuracy and CRM discipline with weekly forecast submissions, clean opportunity stages, next steps, and close dates.

Partner cross-functionally with Marketing on territory demand generation, with Partner Account Management on long-term retention handoffs, and with Product and Onboarding to surface field feedback that improves the partner experience.

What you bring to the table:
Experience

3—5 years of quota-carrying sales experience, with at least 2 years selling through a partner, channel, or referral‑led model.

Demonstrated success in field or territory-based sales — you’re comfortable spending 3+ days per week on the road.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding annual quota in SaaS, payroll, accounting tech, fintech, or HR tech.

Full-cycle ownership experience: prospecting, discovery, demo, negotiation, close, and post‑sale activation.

Tools & logistics

Proficiency with modern CRM and sales engagement platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Outreach, Gong).

Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of travel within your assigned Canadian territory.

Willingness to travel for regional events, conferences, and partner visits as required.

You’ve sold to or partnered directly with accounting firms, bookkeepers, or CPA practices.

You have conversational knowledge of Canadian payroll and compliance — CRA remittances, T4/ROE workflows, and provincial variations like Ontario ESA, Quebec, and BC ESA.

You understand the accounting and bookkeeping ecosystem — firm economics, software stacks (QBO, Xero, Sage), and how payroll fits into client advisory work.

You’ve coached partners on how to position, sell, and onboard a SaaS product to their clients.

You’ve spoken on panels, hosted partner sessions, or otherwise built a local brand at industry events.

What we bring to the table:
Impact

Dig in and directly contribute to Wagepoint’s growth and success.

Culture

Work alongside a team that genuinely enjoys solving problems together, celebrates wins, supports one another through challenges, and still finds time for the occasional terrible joke.

Growth

We believe learning is part of the job. We’re committed to helping you Get Better Every Day (a representation of our Stay Curious and Kind value!) by offering professional development, new experiences, and career growth as we continue to evolve.

Innovation

Curiosity and experimentation encouraged! Bring ideas, challenge assumptions, responsibly utilize AI, and help shape better ways of working.

Remote

Work from wherever you do your best work. Wagepoint has always been remote-first, giving you flexibility, autonomy, and hopefully a little extra time with the people (and pets) you love.

In 2026, we were recognized as one of Canada's Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness and Inclusion. That commitment extends to our hiring process, where we strive to create an experience that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive from day one.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, identities, and perspectives, and we're committed to building a workplace where everyone can thrive.

As a remote company, all interviews are conducted virtually. If you require accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know. We're happy to support you!

As part of our hiring process, AI-based tools are used to support the initial review of applications. Rest assured, our People Ops team carefully reviews all applications and makes the final decisions on candidate progression.
